Last week marked the annual 2-day Fleet Services Management Summit. Taking place at Whittlebury Hall in Northamptonshire, the summit is specifically organised for senior professionals who are directly responsible for their organisation’s fleet requirements, and those who provide the latest and greatest products and services within the sector.

Trimble was once again in attendance this year and was delighted to provide the opening keynote address. Richard Beecroft, Account Director for Trimble presented his insight on how to successfully deploy fleet changes. When rolling out a new telematics system across a large amount of vehicles, there are lots of considerations a company must take, such as gaining buy-in from their employees. Richard shared some insight into his previous deployment experiences with customers and provided best practice advice around the common challenges and pitfalls to avoid when implementing a new system.

The event is highly focused and brings together fleet buyers and suppliers for one-to-one business meetings and valuable networking opportunities. Some great conversations were had at our booth and we’d like to thank everyone that stopped by and shared their experiences, challenges and future requirements with us.

How Can Telematics Help Your Business?

Investing in a Telematics solution can, understandably, be a long and thoughtful process. We have created a best practice guide to help you make that decision as easy as possible. For example, When choosing a solution, you should decide what you want from telematics and whether your needs will grow with time. Is the system easily scalable? Does it offer additional capabilities you may want in the future?

Many companies start with a basic fleet tracking solution. After realizing its benefits, they often decide to expand the system to monitor driver safety or integrate to a work scheduling system. There is also support and service to consider and how much initial set-up and ongoing help you will require, so it is vital you select a vendor who meets your requirements and is available when you need them.

These are just a few considerations but you also have to think about how you can boost your bottom line with a solution through such things as leveraging telematics data and turning it into meaningful information for which intelligent business decisions can be based on.
